Dear Parents,
Welcome back and on behalf of the staff in
St John’s, I wish you and your families all the very best for 2008. I must congratulate the pupils on the way they performed in the hall on the last morning of term. Mr McGeary, the Principal Office for Instrumental Tuition, was in attendance and he was most impressed with our singing. There were performances from our pupils who play brass instruments and the standard was excellent. Well done boys and girls! I am pleased to say that there are many positive experiences planned for the pupils in the course of the next two terms.
Health Promoting School
Miss Farrell is in the process of setting up her ECO team. This group of children will look at ways in which our school can become more ECO friendly. The first thing that we are making a change to is the production of the weekly school newsletter. We are conscious of the amount of paper this is currently using each week. We propose to send out our school newsletter on a fortnightly basis, with immediate effect. The newsletter will always be available on the school website (you will find this address at the top of this newsletter). Please see below dates when the newsletter will be issued:
January February March
Friday 11th Friday 8th Friday 7th
Friday 25th Friday 22nd Friday 21st
School Security
Please continue to remember to sign in and out at the main office, when entering the school for any reason. Once again, I cannot stress how important it is that we ensure the safety of our children at all times.
Appointments
Myself and members of the management team are always very happy to meet with parents. We would ask that parents contact the school office in the first instance to arrange a mutually suitable appointment time.
New Sc hool Nurse
We have a new school nurse, her name is Jane Main. Jane will be in school on Thursday 17th January to meet staff.
Double-Parking
Once again, I must make a plea to parents to park safely. One of the local residents has again complained regarding the congestion at the beginning and end of the school day, which appears to be escalating. The local police will also be present in the weeks ahead and persistent offenders will be cautioned.
