Dear Parents.,
We warmly welcome back Mrs Linda McGee, Depute Headteacher to her post on Monday 12th November after her visit to Tanzania to visit our partner primary in Legho Village. She is very keen to share all of her experiences with us and to strengthen our global citizenship links on her return. It will be ideal to have news first hand of how our partner primary school is progressing and to see DVD and photographs of her trip.

Voice Academy

School Photographs
You will have now received the proof and order form for your child?s photos. Could you please return your order by Friday 16th November. If you are paying by cheque, please make all cheques payable to H Tempest Ltd.


The Book Fair
The Book Fair will be operational on Wednesday and Friday of next week, P1 ? P6A will attend on Wednesday and P6B and P7A and 7B on Friday. The book fair will also be operational during Parents Consultation times next week. Come along and choose a book for your child.


PE Kit??..
Recently there have been increasing numbers of children who have not brought their PE kit to school. Please ensure on the days that your child has PE they have their kit. This should be:
? Tee-Shirt
? Shorts
? Plimsolls or Trainers that have not been worn outside.


Enrolment - P1 August 2008
Next week is enrolment week for children who are eligible for P1 August 2008. All our nursery children have been issued with a P1 Pack giving all the information. If you have a child who is eligible for P1 next August and you live in the catchment area you can come along next week Monday ? Thursday between 9.30am ? 11.30am to register. Please bring with you:
? proof of address, i.e. council tax book, utility bill, bank statement
? your child?s birth certificate
? proof of baptism (if RC)
We are holding an ?Open Morning? for catchment pupils and their parents on Thursday 15th November from 9.30am -11.30am. P7 pupils will act as tour guides, if you cannot make the open morning don?t worry, you can still register any day next week between 9.30am ? 11.30am.


MONEY, MONEY, MONEY??..
P5 Trip to Museum on the Mound
P5 will be visiting the HBOS Museum on the Mound next Tuesday & Wednesday. This museum offers children a chance to explore the concept and history of money through a number of handling sessions, workshops and games.


P7 Transition Mass
Our P7 pupils will attend the Annual Schools Mass at 11am on Wed 14th November at the Cathedral. The Cardinal will be the main Celebrant. Parents are most welcome to attend the celebration. I am sure that the pupils will be on their very best behaviour and represent the school as exemplary senior pupils.

St Andrews Night Family Ceilidh
Portobello Open Door (POD) are organising a Ceilidh in Portobello Town Hall on Friday 30th November. Doors open at 7.00pm with the programme starting at 7.30pm. There will be Music by the Belle Star Band. Tickets are £8 per adult, £5 children and £2 for under 10's, available from Kitchener's Delicatessen.
A wee reminder that Parental Consultations are next Wednesday 5.00pm?8.00pm & Friday 1.00pm?3.00pm.
