St John?s RC Primary School
Newsletter, Friday 2nd November 2007
Dear Parents,
Our St John?s Community Quilt is now hanging in the main foyer to the school. For new parents, this was the culmination of a great deal of hard work by pupils, parents and staff. Each square has been designed by a member of the school community. All joined together, the entire quilt depicts the community of St Johns. I am sure you will agree it looks wonderful.
Road Safety Week
Week beginning the 5th November is Road Safety Week. All of the classes will participate in the week and the streetsense materials will form our key resource. Parents can help too, by PARKING SMART!!
Litter Campaign
The pupil councilors from P4-P7 are taking on the job of litter monitors ? following on from a litter pick up by P5a, who were appalled by the amount of litter in the playground. A display outside my office reflects their findings. The children will wear special jackets and will carry out their duties on a rota basis. Mr Mackie re-sited the bins and we hope that will encourage all pupils to put the litter in the bins. Please help us with this.
Halloween Party
The Parent Council would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped on Saturday night at the Halloween Party. It was a great success and we raised a massive £1106.14. This will be put towards the funds for Smart Boards.
Also to all the P4-P7 children who took part in the Fear Factor, you weren't really eating dog food we switched the labels!
Gymnastic Star
Megan Collins, (P5) took part in a gymnastic competition last Sunday - she achieved a merit award for her floor routine and vault. She's part of the Meadowbank Ladies Gymnastic Team. Well done Megan!
Watch the Birdie?

These will take place on Tuesday 6th November and are for individuals and family groups. This will be a good opportunity for you to purchase photographs for Christmas.

Reporting to Parents
In the advent of the Curriculum for Excellence a new reporting format for schools will be produced. We are in a year of transition and have seen a draft copy which will be ready for use later in the session. For this Parents Consultation, aims for the session for all curricular areas will be issued. The class teacher will focus on your child?s strengths and development needs in relation to this. We are sure that you will find the session useful and helpful.
Many thanks for your continued support and co-operation.
