Dear Parents
It gives me great pleasure to welcome back all of our pupils, staff and parents back to school. A very special welcome to our new primary 1 pupils. A warm welcome to our new Probationer Teachers, Miss Sarah Greenwood and Miss Emily Lowe.

All the pupils have started off the session well and are looking particularly smart in their school uniform. Well done! We are all going to make a concerted effort to continue with this. We began the term with a beautiful Mass of the Assumption, celebrated by Father Hennessey. The pupils were a credit to the school.

The staff team have been extremely busy over the past few days in preparation for our return. Clear expectations about standards of work and behaviour have been shared with pupils.

Free Fruit
Pupils in P1 and P2 are provided with free fruit in school as part of the Snack Attack initiative.

Allergies
Please remember we are a ?nut free? school. We have several children who are very allergic to nuts and this results in a severe reaction, which could be life threatening. Please do not send nuts or any nut products in lunch boxes.

Parking
As the term gets underway, I would like to reinforce the importance of not double parking in Hamilton Terrace, particularly at the beginning and end of the school day.

I have been in discussion with the local police and their presence will be felt in the coming weeks. They will caution drivers who persistently double park. So please remember the children?s safety is of paramount importance and park safely or better still walk to and from school.

Appointments
Myself and members of the management team, Mrs Kelly, Acting DHT and Miss Farrell, Acting PT, are always very happy to meet with parents. We would ask that parents contact the school office in the first instance to arrange a mutually suitable appointment time.

PORTY PICNIC
On Sunday Aug 19th there is a "Porty Picnic" organised by Portobello Open Door (POD). It starts at 1.30pm (till around 5pm) and features a Puppet Show from the Wee Giant Puppet Company and Live Music from Orchestra del Sol (they have always been a big hit at previous events). There will also be Sandcastle competition so remember to bring your bucket and spade as well as your own picnic! You'll find us on the beach at the bottom of Marlborough St around the Cake stand on the Prom. Please come along and help to make this a fun community event.

Many thanks for your continued support and co-operation.
