Dear Parents
Congratulations to the P6 football team and their coaches who won the School Board Cup on Tuesday. The Cup, which is 106 years old was last won by St John?s in 1995. See overleaf for the full commentary on the matches, written by Mr Burgess.

Legho Club
Congratulations also to the Legho Club who raised £91.91 on Tuesday evening at the African Evening in Holy Rood. Many thanks to Mrs Pauline Connarty who organised the tombola with the children.



Election Day - Thursday 3rd May
Please note that the school will be used as a local polling station on Thursday 3rd May, as a result of this the school will be closed to pupils.
Our nursery is not affected by the election and will be open as normal.

Maasai Warriors
Thanks to our Maasai visitors, who treated the school to an amazing display of dance and song and shared many aspects of their unique culture with the children. We wish them well during the rest of their stay in Scotland. (A wee reminder, if you have not paid your £1 for this event please send your child?s money into school asap.)


P6/7 Football Team
The P6/7 Football Team have reached the final stages of the Inspectors Cup. These matches will take place at Warriston Playing Fields on Tuesday 1st May and will commence at 6.20pm. We wish the boys good luck and hope some of you will come along and support them!

PTA Quiz Night
Following last years successful event the PTA are organising another fund raising quiz night.

This will be held on Friday 11th May at 7.30pm in the Right Wing Pub, Willowbrae Road. If you would like tickets are available from Simon Collins on 669 8089 or Jacquie Robertson on 669 6891.


Brighton House Treat
On Tuesday 1st May Brighton House members will have their treat for being Term 2 Champions. The children in Brighton will have a special outdoor play and a treat. Well done to all members of Brighton

Portobello Hornets Mini Rugy
Portobello Hornets had a clean sweep at the Murrayfield Wanderers mini rugby tournament last weekend winning at all age groups. Special congratulations to the St John?s boys who played like true champions. The P6 team were; Calum Connelly, Tim Zoltie, Alex Kinsley, Ewan Watson, James Smith, Duncan Magill and Lewis Marshall. In the P5 team: Aodhan McLaughlin, Jack Stevenson, Hugh Brown and Jonathan Goldring. The Hornets are always looking for players, either boys or girls from P3-P7, if anyone is interested in taking part please contact Gary Zoltie on 669 1923.


School Uniform
Please find attached an order form for school clothing. If you wish to order any items for your child, please complete the form and return it to your child?s class teacher with the correct payment, cash or cheque. Please make cheques payable to St John?s RC Primary School, in a sealed envelope with your child?s name and class clearly written on it. All orders should be returned to school by Wednesday 9th May. We will then pass your order to our suppliers who will deliver to the school before the end of this term. We would urge you to take extreme care when completing the form, paying particular attention to the size required as items ordered in error cannot be exchanged.


P4 Rehearsal
First Communion & Confirmation
The rehearsal will take place in the church on Monday 14th May, times as follows:

Children celebrating on the 20th May
Rehearsal will start at 7.00pm

Children celebrating on the 27th May
Rehearsal will start at 7.40pm.
