Dear Parents,
Congratulations on raising a fantastic amount for Barnardo?s. To date, the total so far is £1,378.23. This is phenomenal and I am sure that when the lady from Barnardo?s comes to pick up her cheque at the end of term, on Friday 30th March, she will be delighted. Well done, boys and girls. A wonderful effort. Thanks to all of the Mums & Dads and families who helped.
Parental Consultation?s
When you come to school on Thursday 22nd March 5.00pm-8.00pm and Friday 23rd March 1.00pm-3.00pm next week, please take time to look at the wonderful art work and samples of pupils writing around the school. Also, before or after your appointment time please pop along to the hall and have a look at the book fair.
Book Fair
The book Fair will arrive next week. Mrs Rutherford & Miss Farrell have organised slots for each of the classes on Wednesday during the day.
A flyer will be sent home with the newsletter so that you can make a choice with your child. Please remember to send in your choice and the correct amount as payment for the book(s).
Also the Book Fair will be open during parents consultation. The more we sell the more we can raise for school funds, which mean more resources for the children. We need more parents to help run the fair. Please contact Simon Collins on 0131 669 8089 if you can help.
Active Schools Programme Co-ordinator
It is with regret that I have to inform you that Scott McDonald, our Active Schools Co-ordinator, will be moving from his post at St John?s. Scott has been with us for 2 years and has been insttrumental in developing many of the curricular and after school activities in St John?s under this programme. Badminton, Club Golf and Cross Country to name a few. He has always been keen and enthusiastic and a very talented sportsman himself. A replacement is being sought for Scott and I will inform you when the re-structuring is finalised Scott will ensure that there is a handover of information before leaving post. I am sure that you will join with me in thanking Scott for his hard work and wish him luck.
Advance Notice
May 3rd is the election day and St John?s will be closed to pupils that day. Please note that the nursery will be open as usual. Staff will be involved in in-service training.
Ball Throwing study at Edinburgh University
We are desperately looking for more children to complete this important research study. This is a plea if your child is aged 4,5, 6 or 7 and would be willing to come up to the Lab and be filmed throwing for approx 1 to 2 hours. Please leave your Childs name/age and a contact phone number with the school office on Monday 19th March and I will be touch with more details. Many thanks.
