Dear Parents,
There are a number of important meetings scheduled for this week. On Monday 22nd January, representatives from the School Board & PTA will attend a meeting regarding the new Parent Forums. This will take place in Portobello High School at 7.30pm. Following the meeting, I will be able to update you on how the parent forum and parent council will be set up in St John?s.
On Thursday 25th January at 6.00pm, the School Board will meet with Councilor Andrew Burns to extend the dialogue regarding interim measures to make the St John?s Facilities fit for your children. Again, the School Board will update you as plans progress.
Performing Arts
P6 & P7 will attend a performance of ?Tam O?Shanter? on Wednesday 25yh January in the school hall.
P3 ? P7 Pupils will be able to participate in a drumming and percussion workshop on 28th February.
The Masai Warriors will visit all of the cluster schools after Easter. The date for our school is Friday 27th April. This performance will be for all pupils. More details to follow.

Please note the dates for the next Parental Consultations will be:
Thursday 22nd March 5.00pm-8.00pm
Friday 23rd March 1.00pm-3.00pm
Lost Mobile Phone
Joshua (P5a) has lost a Philips Compact Video Phone (Silver colour) which operates on the Virgin Mobile Network. Joshua was given this as a Christmas present, and is understandably very upset about its disappearance. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of the phone let Joshua, Mrs Moscrop or one of the school management team know.
Valuable Items
A little reminder to all pupils not to bring very valuable items to school. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee their safety.
Dyslexia Parents Group
There will be a meeting of the Dyslexia Parents Group on Friday 26th January, 9.00am ? 10.30am at Party Planet. Anyone who has a child at St John?s who is or maybe dyslexic feel free to come along for a coffee and a chat. If you would like more information contact Jackie Robertson on 669 6891 or Oonagh O?Brien on 669 5315.
Message from the PTA?PTA Welcome Night..
Please note change to last week?s notice re the above:
?We are having a glass of wine at the Dalriada (pub on the seafront on Bedford Terrace) Wednesday 24th January at 8.00pm. Come and meet other parents and find out what the PTA is up to, or bring some ideas along as to what you?d like to see the PTA do.?
P4 Preparation for Confirmation & First Holy Communion
Letters will be issued direct to your home address next week outing the two available dates with an opportunity to select the preferred date for your family. Please note we will wherever possible grant your preferred date but no guarantees can be made at this stage. We would ask you to return the slips as soon as possible so that they can be collated and your date confirmed.
