25 Aug 2006 - St John's Primary
Dear Parents
As many of you will be aware, Mrs Linda McGee, one of our Depute Headteachers, spent 3 weeks of the summer holidays in Legho Primary in Tanzania. She undertook the trip with a group of parishioners, staff from Holy Rood High School and a very special person, Cardinal Keith Patrick O?Brien. We were informed during the week that the Cardinal will visit our school on Friday 15th September at 11.00am. He will be accompanied by Mike Knox from Holy Rood. The children will take part in a very special assembly that day. There will be an evening opportunity for parents through the parish calendar.
School Review Report
Our school review report will be available on our website soon. For parents who do not have access to the internet, please contact the school office and we will ensure that a copy is made available to you.
Parking
As the term gets underway, I would like to reinforce the importance of not double parking in Hamilton Terrace, particularly at the beginning and end of the school day.
I have been in discussion with the local police and their presence will be felt in the coming weeks. They will caution drivers who persistently double park, So please remember, the children?s safety is of paramount importance and park safely or better still walk to and from school.
Water
As we are a health promoting school, it is important that the pupils drink water during the day to increase their brainpower, It is a good idea to freeze water overnight in a plastic bottle and bring this in to school, to sip during the school day.
Violin Teacher
Ms Kirsty Orton will take over from Ms Sheena Robertson as our new violin teacher. She will begin tuition next week.
Lost Violin
At the end of term a little girl?s violin went astray. If anyone has found or has seen a violin in a blue zip case, with a yellow sticker on it please contact the school office asap. The little girl is keen to progress with her violin tuition. Many thanks.
Vegetarian School Meals
Would any parent of a child who wishes to take the vegetarian option when having school lunches please put this request in writing and send to your child?s class teacher. If we do not have a written request, your child will not be given a vegetarian lunch.
Happy Birthday
A big Happy Birthday to all who celebrate their July & August birthdays.
Beavers
Beavers will start up again on Friday 15th September at 6.15pm ? 7.45pm.
Any boys due to move up to the Cubs should attend the Cub meeting on Tuesday 29th August 6.30pm ? 8.30pm.
Many thanks for your continued support and co-operation.
